As of Monday, March 24, 2003 CompuServe will be closing all of their support centers within the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. All CompuServe support calls are being routed to India. Because of this I have lost my job with CompuServe. Needless to say I will NOT be updating this web. I am abandoning this site and it content. Because I am abandoning this web site, the host tripod.com may close this site. If you are do not like the fact that CompuServe is closing all of it support centers within the UNITED STATES of AMERICA and moving them to India, you should voice your opinion to the CompuServe Corporate offices. I don’t recommend calling (because those calls go to India) so I have provided a mailing address: Mailing Address: (as of 04/23/02) CompuServe Interactive Services, Inc. Will CompuServe Classic work with Windows XP? YES! Will Compuserve Technical Support setup CompuServe Classic on Windows XP or answer questions about it? NO! Why not? Because setting it up to work is a bit of a pain. So... How do I setup of CompuServe Classic on Windows XP? You will need to install the version of CompuServe Classic designed for Windows NT. To properly run the program, you will have to set the Windows XP Compatabilty mode to Windows NT. This version of the Classic software does not have a dialer. To work you have to create a manuel connection using the MicroSoft DUN (Dial Up Networking) and use a logon script. If you need help doing this in Windows Xp. Take a look at this: cis4xp.pdf. Of course you need the Adobe Acrobat reader to open this file. If you don't have it, the link is listed above. For those of you who are curious, I found the file here: http://www.safisoft.com/wb2k1xp.htm You can get the version of the Compuserve Classic Software for Windows NT, at the Official Compuserve FTP Site: ftp.csi.com/software/windows/cs402/without_ie/. The file I suggest to download is CS4NT4N.exe For those that don't want to set it themselves. check this out: CCCMSET.EXE This file was created by one of the Airlines for use by flight crews who connect through Compuserve all over the world. It was recommended by a flight crew member who was unable to create a connection any other way. CompuServe was given permission to make this utility available to there membership in general. It is available "as is, where is" with no technical support available. It can also be obtained by loging into the Classic CompuServe system and using using GoWord: SOFTSUP. I have posted it here for ease of access. | ||
